DEAN’S LIST

Katherine M. Sedlacek, junior, of Olympia, has achieved academic distinction during the spring term of the academic year and has been named to the dean’s list at Beloit College.

HONORS

The National Association for Music Education recently announced the members of the 2011 All-National Honor Ensembles. Keyluh Davidson (senior) and Gwen Hamilton (sophomore) from Northwest Christian High School in Lacey were named to the MENC 2011 All-National Mixed Choir.

Jennifer Hodgman of Olympia, a junior at North Thurston High School in Lacey, was selected as a Distinguished Finalist in the 2011 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program. She was being honored for raising more than $4,000 for cancer research through the Relay for Life.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Finalists in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program include Emerson J. Hardebeck, Lacey, Timberline High School and Joshua Monson, Olympia, Tumwater High School.

Kelsey Smith of Olympia, has been awarded $3,000 through the Trustees fund for the 2011-12 academic year at Eastern Washington University. Kelsey is the daughter of Diana and David Smith of Olympia.

Nancy Lamptey of Olympia has been awarded $3,000 through the Trustees fund for the 2011-12 academic year at Eastern Washington University. She is the daughter of Emelia N. Adjepong and Erasmus E. Lamptey of Olympia.

Tumwater Rotary has given $1,250 scholarships to: Trent Alsin and Sierra Powell, Black Hills High School; Jaydean Hamilton, New Market Skill Center; Danielle Adams and Elizabeth Barclift, Tumwater High School.

DEGREES

Angela Mathis, daughter of Dan and Mary Mathis of Olympia, Bachelor of Arts degree in communication with the honor egregia cum laudeat the College of Saint Benedict

Penn State has awarded a medical degree to Michael Lynch of Olympia. Lynch, a 2001 graduate of Olympia High School, also has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Washington. He will continue his training in a pathology residency at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.
