It’s been 17 years since the original ordinance was written and we have learned a lot about what’s needed to preserve and protect our vital rivers, wetlands, shorelines, aquifers and prairies.
Washington state law requires that the county take what we have learned over the years and apply the best available science to the county’s policies so that development and redevelopment can safely occur on lands that contain critical areas. This benefits us, the people who live in Thurston County.
Go Thurston! (www. gothurston.org) is an all-volunteer grass-roots group that seeks to protect our precious natural heritage, water resources, and agricultural lands through science-based ordinances, accurate information, and respectful dialogue.
We support the county commissioners in their efforts to make this happen. We encourage citizens from throughout Thurston County who care about our future to get involved and help support the update of the Critical Areas Ordinance.
