Enterprise for Equity -- the Olympia nonprofit that works with fledgling entrepreneurs -- and Washington State University Mason County Extension have teamed up to assist new and existing farmers.

Orientations are set for this month and business readiness workshops will be held in October, November and December. Preregistration is required and so are the orientation and business readiness workshops before a full course begins in January.

All classes will be held in the Olympia area and are open to farms in Mason, Thurston, Lewis, Pacific & Grays Harbor counties. Several spots also will be reserved for low-income farmers. The course will help small farm entrepreneurs explore target markets, understand their competition, build financial literacy skills, establish good record-keeping practices and write a business plan.

For more information, call Beth Oppliger at Enterprise for Equity at 360-704-3375 Ext. 2 or Kirsten Workman, WSU Mason County Extension at 360-427-9436 Ext. 14 or 360-427-9670 Ext. 685.
