While it’s inevitable some of us will be heading back inside to work out sooner than we’d like, there’s good news. There are plenty of options out there to get in a workout.
Here are four options:
NEW FITNESS STUDIO IN LACEY
Allison Early hopes her combination of fitness and nutrition expertise will help her clients reach their goals at the new fitness studio she opened earlier this month in Lacey.
“A lot of people focus more on either one or the other (fitness or nutrition) and then they wonder why they don’t get results,” Early said.
Early used to work for an information technology company before she decided to pursue her passion for fitness and nutrition and open Studio 21 Fitness at 5612 Mount St. Helens St. in Lacey.
“It’s going pretty well so far but it takes time to build,” Early said. “... I think what people will like is that we are small and personal. We offer high-intensity interval training and kickboxing for a full-body workout.
“And we are there to push you past the point of failure.”
Early says the gym will soon offer Crossfit training. For more information, go to studio21fitness.com.
MEET THE TEAM RIDE
The Old Town Bicycle Racing Team is hosting a ride open to all cyclists at 8:45 a.m. Sept. 24 at the main entrance of Point Defiance Park.
The team has 50 members who compete around the Northwest and is billed as an opportunity for cyclists to learn more about racing.
The ride will be split into three groups, including one for inexperienced riders that is designed not to leave anybody behind. The two faster groups will ride about 50 miles with opportunities to regroup. The route will go over the Narrows Bridge through Gig Harbor to the Southworth Ferry Terminal.

STATIONARY BIKE-A-THON
At 10 a.m. Oct. 1, you can ride an indoor bike outside and use your workout to raise money for Mary Bridge’s Center for Grieving Children.
Sign up to ride anywhere from 30 minutes to six hours through the third annual bike-a-thon sponsored by Rainier Family Physical Therapy.
The event raised $12,000 in its first two years and organizers set a goal of $10,000 for this year.
“That’s pretty aggressive in this economy,” said Sue Wyder, an event spokeswoman. “But you have to set your sights high.”
Individuals and teams should sign up at rfpt.kintera.org/bikeathon. The event will be in a parking lot near the intersection of 187th Street and Meridian Avenue.
The bikes will be set up under a canopy and the event will go on rain or shine, Wyder said. The bikes are provided by Puyallup’s Calloway Fitness and the top fundraiser gets to ride a recumbent bike.
The event includes a raffle (including a baseball signed by former Seattle Mariner John Olerud) and local vendors who will donate a portion of their proceeds to the cause. The band Prospector is scheduled to perform.
Wyder says all of the proceeds go to the Center for Grieving Children.
NEW JAZZERCISE CLASS
Local Jazzercise instructor Ellen Hull plans to launch five new classes through Pierce County Parks and Recreation starting Oct. 1.
The classes will be staged at the Meridian Habitat Community Center, 14422 Meridian Ave. E., South Hill. They will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturdays, and 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.
Hull will offer free trial classes at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 26 and 6 p.m. Sept. 28. The Oct. 1 class will be free for newcomers.
“I’m excited about the growth of Jazzercise locally,” Hull said.
The classes are one hour and include aerobics, muscle toning through dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga and kickboxing. Hull says Jazzercise is designed to be a good workout for people of all ages and fitness levels. For more information on Hull’s classes, email her at grahamjazz@comcast.net or call 253-381-4941.
There are 13 Jazzercise instructors offering classes around South Sound. For a complete listing, go to jazzercise.com.
