Three to see: Week 4

• Published September 23, 2011

Tumwater (2-1 overall, 1-0 EvCo) at North Thurston (3-0, 1-0), 7 p.m. tonight, South Sound Stadium

The winner of this game will have a big advantage in the EvCo race. North Thurston is averaging better than 48 points per game, and many players didn't play in the second half of wins at Shelton and Aberdeen, giving the Rams many healthy bodies. Rams coach Rocky Patchin knew his would have a big passing attack this season, but a nice surprise has been the ground game, led by junior RB Brandon Belisario (393 yards, five TDs). North Thurston leads the all-time series, 19-13, in a series that dates back to 1965, Tumwater will have a new QB under center tonight, as sophomore Jayden Croft will get his first start in for the injured Daniel Hinkle. Andrew Brown paces the rushing attack, including a 113-yard performance in last week's 42-7 rout of Chehalis. Linebacker Riley Prentice has a team-high 31 tackles.

River Ridge (2-1 overall) at Black Hills (1-2, 1-0), 7 p.m. tonight, Tumwater District Stadium

Both teams come into the game posting different results last Friday. The Hawks suffered their first defeat - a 48-21 nonleague loss at Mark Morris, while the Wolves look to gain momentum following their 25-2 victory over Centralia. This is the Hawks' league opener. Junior Brad Wallace, who has surpassed 400 yards rushing already, did not play in the second half after sustaining a sprained ankle just prior to halftime against the Monarchs. QB Colby Schultz accounted for all three touchdowns - two passing, one rushing. Black Hills RB Cameron Stone rushed for 168 yards, leading the Wolves to their first victory following a heartbreaking 31-28 loss to Shelton in Week 2. "The kids responded to it," coach Jack Zilla said.

Tenino (3-0 overall, 1-0 SWW 1A) at Elma (2-1, 1-0), 7 p.m. tonight, Davis Field

Opposing teams have had trouble stopping Tenino's spread offense, and last week's 40-33 victory over Rainier was their closest game of the season. Zack Chamberlain helped the Beavers score 19 unanswered points in the come-from-behind win. QB Devante Harris has totaled 11 touchdowns in three games. The Beavers are off to their best start 2007, and before that, it was 1997. The 2007 squad won four of its first five games and made its first state playoff appearance since 1986. Elma is averaging 36 points per game, and picked up its first league win last week - 41-6 over Onalaska. QB Tate Shelton threw four touchdowns passes, and three to Trevin Brown, who had 133 yards on four catches.
