The victim suffered a perforated liver and was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital, according to police and court records.
Russell James Voight, 21, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.
According to court papers:
Olympia police were dispatched to the free wall behind the theater about 6:30 p.m. The free wall is an area where people can legally spray-paint graffiti or paint the wall.
Dispatchers told police that the men had moved to the Intercity Transit bus station. One reportedly had a knife, and three or four men were chasing him. One person had been stabbed.
A police officer arrived and saw a man, later identified as Voight, waving something around in front of him at the individuals that were chasing him. The officer approached and saw Voight had a knife. The officer drew his gun and ordered Voight to the ground. Voight dropped the knife; one of two approaching officers tased him because he didnt comply with commands to lie on the ground.
Voight later admitted to police that he had stabbed someone. Detectives found a witness who lives under the Fourth Avenue Bridge who confirmed that Voight had stabbed a man. The man said the dispute was over Voight hitting on young females over the last few days.
