Republican and Democratic groups at the Panorama retirement community are holding public events in the coming days.

The Panorama Republicans host Secretary of State Sam Reed at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Quinault Auditorium at Panorama. Reed, a three-term moderate Republican and former Thurston County auditor, is not seeking another term in 2012.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to hear Sam’s perspective on current political races and the highlights of his long and distinguished political career,” Dale Vincent, chairman of the Panorama GOP, said in an email. The free, one-hour meeting is open to the general public.

Call Vincent for details at 360-438-5561.

The Democratic Study Group at Panorama plans a public forum Oct. 11 with a few Lacey City Council candidates and one North Thurston School Board hopeful on the Nov. 8 ballot.

The free event starts at 1:30 p.m. in the Panorama Auditorium, 1670 Circle Loop S.E., Lacey, and includes questions from the audience for candidates. The general public is invited, and details are available from Phyllis Sturges at 360-438-5752.
