RIVERS
Carbon: There are still lots of pinks but far fewer coho than people would have expected by now. The pinks are hitting pink corkies and yarn.
Green: Anglers are still catching lots of pinks, mainly on corkies and yarn. People using spinners are catching a few coho.
Humptulips: Fishing has been a little slower this week. Chinook are going for a wrapped plug, while eggs or spinners are working best for coho.
Olympic Coast: The Sol Duc has been packed with coho, according to Terry Wiest of Steelhead University. He said most fish have been hitting twitched jigs, while some are taking eggs.
Puyallup: Fishing has really slowed down.
Skokomish: The river is producing some good catches of coho. Anglers say they are having the most success fishing eggs under a bobber.
LAKES
American: Anglers are trolling for kokanee and still-catching fish. People are using orange- or pink-colored dodgers, with corn-tipped Wedding Rings. Look for fish around the island.
Munn: The lake has been fishing very well in recent days. Try dark-colored leeches, perhaps starting with maroon. Remember this is a catch-and-release fishery.
Potholes: The reservoir level is starting to rise rapidly. Walleye fishing has been good off the face of the sand dunes. People are using a worm harness, said a staffer at MarDon Resort. Largemouth bass action has been fair to good.
Rattlesnake: Trout action has been good to very good. Use olive and black leeches.
Silver: The trout bit has been good to very good, said Amy Kenney at Henley’s Silver Lake Resort. Try using worm and marshmallows or Power Bait fished off the bottom. The perch and crappie fishing has been good.
Spanaway: Fishing has been good at the sound end of the lake for rainbow trout, said Bud Herlitzka at Spanaway Park Boathouse. Try using a 2-foot leader with Power Bait or worm under a bobber. Fly–fishing with a chironomid is best for the brown trout.
SALT WATER
Fly-fishing: Coho action has been fair, but the sea-run cutthroat action has been very good, said Anil Srivastava at Puget Sound Fly Co. Look for coho staging around creek mouths. Cutthroat can be found off Titlow Beach, Narrows Park and off Point Fosdick.
North Sound: There has been some good coho action in the Port Townsend area, Jefferson Head and Kingston. There are reports of chum salmon showing up around Point No Point.
Olympia: Very few people have been heading out, said a staffer at Zittels Marina.
Tacoma: Salmon fishing has been slowed by the weather and the lack of fish, said Art Tachell at Point Defiance Marina. The blackmouth action should pick up in the coming weeks, he said. There are reports of people catching squid at night off local docks.
