State transportation officials say drivers can expect delays of up to two hours or more on Snoqualmie Pass this week while crews close a lane of eastbound I-90 to prepare for opening a new section of the highway.

The lane will be closed until Friday at 5 p.m.

Transportation officials say the best way to avoid delays on the pass is by traveling before noon or after 9 p.m.

The I-90 work is part of a $551 million project to widen a five-mile stretch of the roadway from four to six lanes.
