Evergreen Conference boys tennis players showed their dominance during Thursday’s first day of the District IV tournament at Bally Total Fitness in Lacey.

All the singles matches and all but one doubles match in Saturday’s finals will feature EvCo players.

The Washougal doubles team of Regan Townsend and Andrew Kelly are the only 2A Greater St. Helens League players to advance.

A rematch of last weekend’s EvCo subdistrict doubles match will be for the district doubles title, too – Tumwater’s Ryan and Evan Gudbrandson against Chehalis’ Kenny Saari and Cody Schultz, who defeated the Gudbrandsons, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2, last week.

Saari and Schultz advanced with victories over two North Thurston doubles teams – 6-2, 6-2 over Jooneil Ahn and Scott Vannerson and 6-4, 6-4 over Gabriel Rush and Erik Solveson.

In singles, Black Hills’ Jimmy Do faces North Thurston’s Jason Agtarap in Saturday’s singles title match.

Do defeated Centralia’s Mark Allen, 6-1, 6-1, and teammate Austin Davis, 6-3, 6-1, to reach the singles final against Agtarap, who eliminated Tumwater’s Zach Drake, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.

Drake needs to win twice Saturday to return to the state tournament.

 • North Thurston moved up to second place (8-2) in the EvCo volleyball standings after its 25-18, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23 win over Black Hills, which previously was in second place (8-3). The Rams have won six straight league matches dating to a 3-0 loss to Black Hills on Sept. 27. Julia Wabinga led the Rams with 16 kills and 16 digs, and Brittany Rutherford registered three blocks and four aces. Hope Mortensen had a monster night at the net for the Wolves with a match-high 10 blocks and 14 kills.

 • Chantelle Hartman (20-for-20) and Michaela Kier (16-for-16) each had a perfect night serving, leading Northwest Christian to a 25-21, 25-14, 25-20 sweep of Naselle in Pacific 2B volleyball.

 • Timberline’s Krista Jones tallied her ninth and 10th goals of the season, one in each half, helping the Blazers to a 3-2 Narrows 3A girls soccer victory over Yelm. Jones scored the game’s first goal in the opening minute. Timberline improved to 6-2 in league play and 7-5-1 overall.

 • Logan Cox scored a hat trick, including two second-half goals in a three-minute span, helping Capital to a 3-0 shutout victory over Foss. Shelby Rodriguez had the shutout in goal.

 • Gig Harbor raced to a 35-point lead over Shelton in a 42-6 4A Narrows League football victory over the Highclimbers at Roy Anderson Field. Shelton dropped its third straight game.
