It’s harvest season, and that means South Sound is being repopulated with pumpkin patches, corn mazes and haunted places. Check these out:

PUMPKIN PATCHES, CORN MAZES Hunter Farms, 1921 state Route 106 E., Union, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. $2 covers admission to the corn and hay mazes and wagon rides. Hot dogs and other goodies are available on weekends. Children younger than 3 get in free. 360-426-2222.

Lattin’s Country Cider Mill & Farm Apple Festival, 9402 Rich Road S.E., Olympia, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Includes apple fritters, cider, animal feeding and haunted barn. 360-491-7328 or lattinscider.com.

Northwest Glass Pumpkin Patch, sponsored by Tacoma Glassblowing Studio, includes 2,000 or more hand-blown glass pumpkins, as well as glass pumpkins in a variety of colors and shapes, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 5 at Port of Olympia Plaza, 704 Columbia St. N.W. Free. 253-383-3499.

Pumpkin Patch Bash at Capital Mall or Charlie’s Safari, a safe alternative to outdoor trick-or-treating, includes face painting, bounce houses, candy, raffles and games, from 6-9 p.m. today.

Rutledge Farms corn maze and pumpkin patch, 302 93rd Ave. S.E., Olympia; pumpkin patch is open noon to dusk today. Maze is open 10 a.m.-10 p.m. today. The theme for this year’s maze is “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.” Cost to enter the maze is $7, $6 for military, seniors and children (excludes haunted maze). Schilter Family Farm, 141 Nisqually Cut-off Road, Olympia, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. today. Includes hayrides around the pumpkin patch, a petting farm, a hay maze, a giant corn maze and browsing for fall decorations and gifts. WillyTee’s Pumpkin Patch-Teitzel Family Farm includes pumpkins, winter squash, prepicked produce, restrooms, picnic area, face painting, 10 a.m.-dusk today, 3415 Jackson Highway, Chehalis, 360-880-5411.

HAUNTED PLACES

Haunted Firehouse, a nonprofit fundraising haunted house that supports the programs of the Family Support Center and Kids At Play, will be open from 5-10 p.m. today at State Avenue and Capitol Way. It will feature Jusby the Clown and other local actors, haunts and spooks.

Skeleton House features more than 285 ghoulish creatures and spooky scenes at 8342 Hawks Ridge Drive S.E., Olympia. Donations are being accepted for the Thurston County Food Bank.

FAMILY EVENTS

Briggs YMCA’s Halloween Bash is set for 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at 1530 Yelm Highway S.E., Olympia.

Capital Christian Center’s “Trunk or Treat” Harvest Fest includes rows of cars filled with candy from 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at Capital Christian Center, 4431 Martin Way, Olympia. 360-943-4391.
