Holiday tours of the Governor’s Mansion will be offered Dec. 7, Dec. 14 and Dec. 21. According to a news release:

Twelve tours will be offered per day; each takes 60 minutes. All participants 18 or older must have photo ID. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Each tour is limited to 25 people. Cameras, backpacks, umbrellas, strollers, food and beverages are not allowed. Reservations are required; call the Department of Enterprise Services’ State Capitol Tour Office at 360-902-8880. Holiday decorations for the mansion are paid for through private donations.

In other news, inspection of the exterior of the Capitol that involves workers rappelling off the top of the dome has been postponed. The project was set to begin today.

Tour for legislators will focus on wine industry around Prosser

Benton County commissioners will be running a show-and-tell bus tour today for state legislators with the focus on Red Mountain wine industry and the Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center in Prosser.

Commissioner Leo Bowman, whose district covers both areas, suggested it would be good to have legislators from the 16th and 8th districts see what is happening and proposed for territory newly included in their districts by the recent statewide redistricting.

The tour will have representatives from both legislative districts and from the office of Congressman Doc Hastings, a Republican from Pasco. The tour also will include county commissioner Shon Small, and officials from the ports of Kennewick and Benton, the Kennewick Irrigation District and the Red Mountain American Viticultural Area.
