Associated PressNovember 4, 2011

Military officials say the Alaskan Command is getting a new commander.

Lt. Gen. Stephen L. Hoog will take leadership of the Alaskan Command at a change-of-command ceremony Monday at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

Hoog will replace Lt. Gen. Dana T. Atkins, who is retiring from the Air Force after a 36-year career. Atkins will become president of The Augusta Chronicle in Georgia in January.
