Lacey Fire District 3 needs its levy

This time each year political rhetoric runs deep and fast. I’m morally independent of demands to adhere to strict party principles, so this is how I see the issues in 2011.

The Republicans have lost their bearings/leadership and the Democrats (typically) are messing around trying to figure out how to deal with this opportunity. They both deserve what is about to happen.

I wish the D’s had not supported the ACLU’s stupid Initiative 501. I prefer the more logical “Yes End Penalties” Initiative 505 for cannabis health care needs. The total ignorance of facts displayed by my Democrat buddies about Initiative 1183 puzzles me, so I’m voting to pass it. The other statewide issues aren’t good for us – don’t pass them.

Lacey races are critical this year. The right candidates are Jeff Gadman, Joe Mihelich and Jason Hearn. A yes vote on the Lacey Fire District 3 levy is absolutely necessary to avoid more adjustments in the service we count on. Frank Kirkbride is the right choice for fire district commissioner.

I support Dick Pust for mayor of Olympia, along with some other new faces there, hopefully. Ed Stanley and Joan Cathey are right to Tumwater’s continued resurrection and the gopher goons are wrong for the future of Thurston County.

I still have confidence in the rights of our Constitution, regardless of how the political and religious forces try to bend it to their wills.

Enjoy the life!
