Yelm-area shooting prompts sheriff's investigation

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a 31-year-old man was shot in the abdomen in the Yelm area.

According to the Sheriff’s Office:

About 7:20 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to a gunshot victim who had been dropped off at the Southeast Thurston Fire Authority’s Mill Road station. The man later was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital; he refused to tell investigators how he was shot and provided conflicting information about where the shooting occurred.

He was scheduled to undergo surgery at the time of the investigation.
