Fly-fishing experts offer tips for Puget Sound

A trio of experts will offer tips for fly fishing on Puget Sound during a free seminar Saturday.

The instructors will be Steve Rohrhach, Roger Stephens and Anil Srivastava, owner of the Puget Sound Fly Co.

From noon-1 p.m., Rohrbach and Stephens will talk about what is needed to outfit a boat for fly fishing on the Sound.

Rohrbach will give a tube-tying demonstration from 1-2 p.m., showing how to tie a pencil sand lance popper and a Beach Comber pattern.

Stephens will lead a session on strategies for Puget Sound fly anglers from 2-3 p.m. He will talk about top water and subsurface strategies for searun cutthroat trout and coho salmon.

The seminar concludes with tying and casting demonstrations by Srivastava from 3-4 p.m. He will tie the Shock and Awe pattern he developed. There also will be various rods and lines to try out.
