Occupy Olympia says bank locally

I have been staying at Occupy Olympia since the first night. We’ve overcome hurdles, built community bonds and are organizing together. To those who have come by, thank you for your show of support. We are doing this for Olympians who are all the 99 percent. We are the people’s movement.

I stand in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street. I’m demanding all Wall Street banks leave Olympia and am encouraging the greater Olympian community to move their money to our local banks such as Olympia Federal Savings or our local credit unions such as Evergreen Direct Credit Union. In this way, Occupy Olympia serves as the nonviolent direct action buy-local campaign.

We are much more than that. We are every day providing the direct services of health, safety and food for Olympia’s most downtrodden, the homeless community. We are in solidarity with them and show them respect and dignity. These are the people being abandoned in their moment of need by the state and federal government while the richest 1 percent hoard their illicit money unchallenged by their complicit statesmen that they have bought out.

Supporting participatory democracy, getting in the streets, organizing, agitating, and building the people’s power is what Occupy Olympia is doing.

United we stand, divided we fall.
