At a luncheon Tuesday, South Sound Partners recognized the Nisqually Tribe as the large Business of the Year for their contributions to more than 50 recipients. Tribal Chair Cynthia Iyall said giving is a part of the Nisqually culture, going back to Chief Leschi who shared resources and information for survival with settlers moving west.
Adam Adrian accepted the small Business of the Year award for the Ramblin Jack’s, Mercato Ristorante and I.Talia Pizzeria restaurants that have donated funds and catering to many nonprofits.
“I feel like that is what you’re supposed to do as a small business,” Adrian said.
Ken and Nancy Anderson received the Couple of the Year award for their financial support and volunteering with a wide variety of nonprofits. Nancy Anderson is a past president of the Hands On Children’s Museum, while Ken Anderson has chaired The Washington Center for the Performing Arts and is chair of the St. Peter Foundation board. The couple is serving as the co-chairs of the museum’s capital campaign.
The Seaman family received the Family of the Year award. The Paul Grudis Inspirational Award was given to Sylvia Barclift and the Philanthropic Organization of the Year award went to the Lacey Sunrise Lions Club.
