Zoo officials hope Taji and Lisu will breed at their new Colorado home.
“We’re excited to be able to send this pair to Denver,” zoo general curator Karen Goodrowe Beck said Monday. “More people will get the opportunity to see these beautiful cats, and the cubs will hopefully help grow the population.”
Taji is one of two clouded leopard cubs born at Point Defiance in June. Lisu arrived from the Nashville Zoo to be paired with him.
The two remaining cubs, Sumalee and Sabah, will remain at Point Defiance for a few more weeks before being shipped to Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Garden.
Six adult clouded leopards remain in Tacoma, and officials hope they breed again.
