An ABC News online poll posted after the network's 20/20 magazine report surrounding the recent conviction of former Prosser mayor Linda Lusk indicates that a majority of viewers don't believe the molested teenage boy "was a victim."

More than 1,500 votes have been cast in the question, "Was (the boy) a victim?" and 54 percent clicked on "No. He said he knew what he was doing and Linda Lusk was vulnerable after her son's death."

The other side of the question is, "Yes. No matter what his intentions were, Linda Lusk should have stopped the teenager in his tracks."

The victim is interviewed on camera and named in the poll, but the Herald's policy is to not publish names of victims of a sex crime.

Lusk, 50, was sentenced to three months in jail after pleading guilty to third-degree child molestation for inappropriately touching the 14-year-old boy. She will have to register as a sex offender for 10 years.

In a recent development, Lusk has been locked up in the Benton County jail since Nov. 7 until she gets a hearing about a probation violation allegation.

A DOC violation hearing has been scheduled for “on or about Nov. 21,” a state Department of Corrections official told the Herald. She’s being held in jail without bail.
