Use this database to search for Washington state schools to see if they are meeting standards under the No Child Left Behind federal education act.

Notes:

-- "AYP" means Adequate Yearly Progress. It mandates that a certain percentage of students must pass state tests in reading and math every year. The required percentage changes every few years, with all students having to pass the tests in 2014.

-- "School Improvement" is a scale indicating how far a school is from making AYP consistently. For example, a school that misses AYP two years in a row, enters Step 1. A school that reaches Step 5 could face harsh sanctions.
