Lawson doesn’t speak for Lacey City Council

The Olympian recently printed a letter from Ron Lawson, a member of the Lacey City Council. I will not comment on the contents of his letter. What disturbed me is that beneath his name “Lacey City Council” is included.

Although Lawson is a member of the City Council, he is also a private citizen. I did not read anything in his letter that would be within the actions of the Lacey City Council. “Lacey City Council” beneath his name could give the impression the content of his letter contains positions/endorsements of the City Council on the included subjects.

If I am incorrect and my elected City Council has taken a position on whether the “Republicans have lost their bearings/leadership,” or “the D’s supported the ACLU’s stupid Initiative 502” or endorsements of Lacey and Olympia candidates for office, then I need to raise my concerns with the council as a whole.
