Wrestling: Season's first rankings released

• Published November 21, 2011

WashingtonWrestlingReport.com released its first state rankings for the 2011-12 season.

Tumwater senior Riley Prentice, the defending state champion at 160 pounds, is ranked No. 1 at 2A in the new 170-pound weight class, and Yelm's James Bradley is ranked No. 1 in 3A at 138. He finished runner-up at 135 at Mat Classic last February. Centralia has two wrestlers -- Jesse Gonzalez (132) and Garrett Pannkuk (220) who are ranked atop their weight classes. In April, new weight classes were approved nationwide.

The new weight classes are: 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220 and 285. Girls weight classes remain the same.

A significant difference is one fewer weight class between 119 and 145. There's now only four weight classes in that stretch -- 120, 126, 132, 138 and 145, instead of 119, 125, 130, 135 and 140.

Here are the first installment of rankings:

-- Class 4A rankings
-- Class 3A rankings
-- Class 2A rankings
-- Class 1A rankings
-- Class 2B/1B rankings
-- Girls rankings
