Veteran Northwest angler and guide Leland Miyawaki will give a free presentation on how to catch sea-run cutthroat trout and coho with the Miyawaki Beach Popper.

Miyawaki, currently fly-fishing manager of the Orvis store in Bellevue, will talk to the Puget Sound Fly Fishers at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 at Tower Lanes, 6323 Sixth Ave., Tacoma.

Miyawaki tied up his first beach popper almost 15 years ago. It is a surface fly he uses to cast off Puget Sound and British Columbia beaches, with his six-weight rod.

He will demonstrate how to tie the popper and how to fish with it.

An optional dinner, at a cost of $15, is offered after the presentation at 6:30 p.m., followed by the regular monthly meeting of the fly-fishing group.
