The results are in from an online survey asking for the “Seven Wonders of Thurston County” and the top spot went to Capitol Campus.

The campaign, launched by county Commissioner Sandra Romero as a way for residents to rate the county’s most treasured spots and experiences, generated more than 420 responses with nomination and comments from residents.

The other wonders are: Mima Mounds, Wolf Haven, Tumwater Falls Park, Tenino Quarry Pool, Nisqually Wildlife Refuge and the Olympia Farmers Market. Other notable nominations included: Priest Point Park, Lattin’s Cider Mill, the artesian wells in downtown Olympia, Monarch Sculpture Park and the Procession of the Species.

“The Seven Wonders campaign was a fun way to entice visitors to our area, and also remind all of us who live here of the terrific experiences nearby,” Romero said in a written statement.

It’s not too late to vote for your favorite spot or activity. The nomination forms will remain on the county’s website and the list will be updated periodically. Visit the county’s website, www.co.thurston.wa.us, to vote and see photos and descriptions of the winners.
