The public is invited to a farewell reception Dec. 15 for Lacey Mayor Tom Nelson at city hall.

Nelson served as a city councilman for eight years and served as mayor from 2010-2011. He announced in June that he would not seek a third term on the council. The reception is scheduled from 5-6:30 p.m. in council chambers, 420 College St. S.E. For more information, call the city clerk’s office, 360-491-3214.

In a release, Deputy Mayor Virgil Clarkson called Nelson a “true leader in the Lacey community.”

“Mayor Nelson exemplifies the best qualities of a Lacey City Councilmember,” Clarkson said.
