Alicia M. Noelle

Age: 15.

School: River Ridge High School in Lacey.

Grade: 10.

Parents: Jeffrey and Christina Noelle.

Best personal achievement: Getting to help the homeless one year on Christmas before we did anything for ourselves. It was eye-opening and made me very appreciative for everything that I have.

How I spend my time: Hanging out or working in the theater. If I’m not there, you can find me in a library lost in the stacks, or at home on the computer.

Favorite subjects: Theater, English and algebra 2.

Favorite movie: I love ’80s movies, especially “The Breakfast Club.”

Favorite book: The “Midnighters” series by Scott Westerfeld.

Dream job: Either a high school drama teacher, or a teacher at a school for the deaf.

Someone I respect: My mom. She is the most amazing person ever and I love her so much. When I’m feeling down, my mom always helps cheer me up.

The hardest part of being a student is: Keeping good grades along with everything on top of school. I quite often have rehearsals and things until 5:30 or 6 p.m. And when we finally perform, I can have four or five weekend performances that go as late as 11 p.m.

My ambitions or career aspirations include: I would like to do some professional stage productions. I also would like to write and publish a novel.

Someone famous I would like to meet: My favorite authors – Scott Westerfeld, Suzanne Collins, Rachel Caine and L.J. Smith.

Someday, looking back on my life, I’ll be able to say: “I worked my hardest and did great at everything I put my mind to.”

Biggest challenge facing teenagers today: The pressure on young girls to be perfect. I think the way people are portrayed in magazines and on TV are highly uncalled for; girls shouldn’t be forced to think that they need to be pencil thin and perfect.

One thing in the world I would change if I could: I would end all wars and political strife. Imagine how easy life would be if there was no more fighting.

Nominated by: Theater teacher Leslie Van Leishout, who wrote, “Alicia has taken River Ridge Theatre by storm. She moved here after school began and immediately became involved in StudentWorks19, hosted the statewide Junior Thespian conference and is performing stellar work in stagecraft and drama classes. Alicia works hard, cares about others and is a great example. I am looking forward to seeing all that she can do.”
