Black Hills got record-setting performances from Izzy Campbell and Hope Mortensen, who scored career highs of 35 points apiece to lift the Wolves to a 95-92 overtime victory over Aberdeen in both teams’ Class 2A Evergreen Conference girls basketball opener in Aberdeen. The 35 points for both Campbell and Mortensen ties a school record for points in a game. Aberdeen, led by Mo Donovan’s 28 points, scored 32 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime, including 14 from the free-throw line. Campbell led the Wolves in the overtime, scoring seven of the team’s 14 points in the period.
Carly McIssac had a career-high 27 points to lead Tumwater in its 55-49 nonleague win over Bonney Lake.
Auburn Mountainview handed Timberline its second straight loss with a 62-27 win over the Blazers.
Despite fouling out in the fourth quarter, Brock Wade had a game-high 24 points to lead W.F. West of Chehalis to a 61-51 2A EvCo boys basketball victory over North Thurston to end the Rams’ four-game winning streak. Landon Rushton had 15 points to lead North Thurston, followed by Ben Broeker’s 14 and Matt Reid’s 12.
Tumwater freshman guard David Cooper scored a career-high 25 points, including going 3-for-4 from 3-point range, in the Thunderbirds’ 85-75 win over Hockinson. Tumwater scored 22 or more points in each of the final three quarters, including 30 in the third.
River Ridge’s Micah Hardeman (25 points), Brad Wallace (21) and Kesean Coleman (19) scored 65 of the team’s 78 points in a 78-63 win over Centralia as the Hawks earned their second EvCo victory in as many games.
Black Hills got its first EvCo victory with a 58-51 win over Aberdeen. Tanner Johnson (16 points), Sammy Porter (14) and Caleb Montelongo (12) scored in double figures for the Wolves.
Dalton Delio had a team-high 13 points in Rainier’s 44-30 loss to Forks.
