LOCAL baking: 6 recipes from Puyallup Fair parent-child contest

They showed up with plates of frosted sugar cookies and tiered cookies made to look like Christmas trees. One cookie even had a stained-glass effect from crushed sugar candies melted into the center of sugar cookies.

This year’s parent-child C&H holiday cookie contest at the Puyallup Fair garnered 11 entries from young chefs and their parents. We asked the fair to provide us the recipes for the three top winning cookies, as well as a handful of others that were entered. Inside, you’ll find recipes for cookies that are easy enough to make with grade-schoolers. A few recipes, such as the sugar cookies, are even easy enough for preschoolers to help with.
