Washington State Patrol troopers chased a suspected burglar from Tumwater to DuPont early today but ended the pursuit after it got too dangerous.

At one point, the suspect struck a trooper’s patrol car in downtown Olympia. The police cruiser suffered minor damage and the trooper was not injured, the State Patrol reported.

The suspect was chased north on Interstate 5. He often went off the freeway and onto city streets, the State Patrol reported.

At times, the suspect drove 105 mph.

“Several attempts with spike strips failed and we terminated the pursuit near DuPont,” trooper Guy Gill reported.
