Olympia wrestlers had little trouble with Capital and Foss, winning four matches in a 54-18 win over the Falcons and in a 42-21 win over the Cougars. The Bears’ Grant Hughes (145) and Julian Dizon (160) each recorded a victory over Foss and Capital, including Hughes’ 25-second pin over Capital’s Eric Wate. Capital got victories from David Griffith (138), Jake Walthour (120) and Keith Syverson (170) over the Bears.
Capital’s Cameron Falkenberg was a double winner in the Cougars’ double-dual boys swimming meet win over South Kitsap (105-78) and Timberline (96-85). Falkenberg won the 50 free (25.98) and 100 backstroke (1:12.97) and also was part of the Cougars’ winning 200 medley and 200 free relays against the Wolves. Against Timberline, Jack Swason won two events (200 IM and 100 free) and also swam the first leg of Capital’s winning 200 free relay. Timberline’s Peter Emmons won the 100 back (1:06.36) and 100 butterfly (1:02.33).
River Ridge’s Durias Thomas (200 free, 100 free) and Josh Duran (100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke) were double winners for the Hawks in their 93-82 dual loss to Steilacoom.
Capital fell behind early to Auburn Mountainview, and lost a 65-42 decision in a girls basketball nonleague home game. Cierra Pettit and Kendel Wilkerson led the Cougars (1-5), with seven points apiece.
A 20-4 run in the third quarter propelled W.F. West to a 62-48 victory over Black Hills, snapping the Wolves’ two-game win streak. The game was tied at 22 at halftime, before the Bearcats pulled away. Izzy Campbell had 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and Hope Mortensen had 10 to lead Black Hills (4-2). Jamika Parker and Olivia Erkstine had 14 points apiece to lead the Bearcats (5-0).
Tumwater held visiting Centralia to single digits in every quarter en route to a 46-30 2A EvCo victory. Carly McIssac scored 14 points, her fifth straight double-digit game.
Auburn Mountainview outscored Capital 24-7 in the third quarter in route to a 70-49 win over the Cougars in a nonleague boys basketball game. Capital led at halftime, 25-21, before the Lions pulled away for good. Keenan Williams and Jared Eidenmuller scored 14 each for the Cougars (3-3).
