The event starts at 9 a.m. Typically, eight to 12 people take part, said Gary Thorson, one of the event’s organizers.
The match is for World War II-era or older standard issue military rifles. The rifles can be from any country as long as they are unmodified standard issue, Thorson said. The course uses standard National Rifle Association bull’s-eye target at 200 yards. All shots are slow fire from the prone position. The match is 30 shots in two strings of 15 shots each, in 15 minutes.
“We shoot 15 shots in 15 minutes, then go down range and score the targets, then shoot another 15 shots in 15 minutes, then score again and total up the scores out of a maximum of 300 points,” he said.
The club is at 14318 Littlerock Road S.W., Littlerock. To learn more about the club and its events, go to ccrpclub.org.
