Thurston County narcotics detectives seized four pounds of psilocybin mushrooms Thursday during a sting in the Costco parking lot on Marvin Road in Lacey, court records state.

Three people were on suspicion of unlawful possession of psilocybin mushrooms and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance: a 30-year-old Seattle woman, a 32-year-old Seattle man and a 21-year-old Yelm man.

According to court papers:

A confidential source working for the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force arranged to purchase a pound of mushrooms from one of the suspects for $1,000.

When the source met the trio, one of the suspects retrieved a “soccer ball-sized black cloth bag” from the trunk and handed it to another.

That man emptied the black cloth bag in the source’s vehicle. When he was arrested, one of the suspects had $1,000 in bills that were verified to be “task force buy funds” given to the source.

Detectives got a search warrant for the suspects’ vehicle and found about three more pounds of the mushrooms in the trunk.

The three were arrested. The two men were being held Friday at the Thurston County Jail with bail set at $1,500. The woman was being held at the jail with bail set at $4,000, a jail official said.
