A 62-year-old man died Monday morning from injuries sustained after being hit by a car in Auburn.

The man was crossing the street in the 1500 block of Auburn Way South around 7:15 a.m., according to the Auburn Police Department.

“The sky was still dark, the victim was wearing dark clothing, and he was crossing outside of a crosswalk. Other drivers narrowly missed the man,” Auburn police commander Mike Hirman said in a news release.

The man was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Auburn Way. He was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle but died of his injuries soon after.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the man was not injured, Hirman said.

Auburn police are investigating the incident.
