The port is set to spend $120,000 toward the project and the salmon board will contribute $60,000. The port is collaborating on the project with the South Puget Sound Salmon Enhancement Group -- which partnered with the port to request the grant funds -- and the City of Olympia. The project is expected to be finished by the end of 2012.
The port grant was among about $30 million in Salmon Recovery Funding Board grants to help restore salmon habitat.
I also wrote about the port's plans for Mission Creek in February: http://www.theolympian.com/2011/02/05/1532327/missing-headline-for-05oports.html#storylink=misearch
