River Ridge girls upset No. 1-ranked Chehalis, 63-54

River Ridge’s speed outweighed Chehalis’ size, as the Hawks knocked off the previously-unbeaten and No. 1-ranked Bearcats, 63-54, to move into first place in the 2A Evergreen Conference girls basketball standings.

“That was a big one. We had to play fast,” first-year coach Jackie Robinson said. “We couldn’t play a half-court game. They have a lot of size, and it took a whole team effort.”

The Hawks (6-4 overall, 3-0 EvCo) forced 15 turnovers and didn’t allow the Bearcats (9-1 overall) to get to the free-throw line in the first half. Senior wing Necy Wade had a career-high 29 points, and Catriece Baker had 16.

"She shot the ball extremely well tonight," Robinson said of Wade.
