Take part in the discussion about the largest dam removal in United States history Wednesday.

“An Evening on the Elwha River” will feature a presentation by Jerry Freilich, Ph.D., research coordinator for Olympic National Park, and Jeffrey J. Duda, research ecologist for the U.S. Geologic Service. They will talk about the project as a whole, including dam removal, restoration efforts and protection measures.

The three-year, $325 million effort to remove the Elwha and Glines Canyon dams began in September.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a slide show of the dam removal process followed by the presentation at 6:45 p.m. and a question-and-answer session afterward.

The event will be at REI, 222 Yale Ave. N., Seattle. Free. For information, call 206-903-1444, ext. 205.
