Washington State Patrol troopers arrested a 60-year-old woman this morning after she drove 17 miles the wrong way on Interstate 5 to Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

The woman had stopped and was blocking an intersection – without her car’s lights on – in Tumwater before she got on the highway, trooper Guy Gill tweeted.

The woman got on I-5 and went north in the southbound lanes. At times, she was going more than 100 mph, Gill reported.

Gill added that there were several near-miss crashes. Spike strips were used to stop the car and the woman was taken into custody.

No injuries were reported.
