State revenue: Monthly tax collections slip again

Anyone hoping for a December tax windfall to help with Washington’s remaining $1.5 billion budget gap can give it. The monthly revenue collections report from the Economic and Revenue Forecast Council shows a drop of $28.9 million below what was forecast in mid-November.

The dip is blamed on early property tax payments inflating the previous month’s numbers. Go here for forecaster Arun Raha’s latest: He says that were it not for one-time refunds of $12 million, the state’s revenues since November would be $2.8 million above the forecast.

Raha is a guy in the news today. Go here for details on Raha’s announcement he is quitting at the end of the month to take a private-sector job in Ohio.
