Friday's basketball highlights: Black Hills girls, Tumwater boys win big

The Black Hills girls and Tumwater boys posted convincing wins in their basketball games Friday night at Black Hills High School, as the Wolves beat the Tumwater girls, 65-46, and the Tumwater boys cruised to a 78-49 win over Black Hills.

Other Friday night highlights

North Thurston is now in sole possession of first place in the 2A Evergreen Conference boys basketball standings after its 68-51 win over River Ridge. The Rams (5-1 EvCo) had a 25-point third quarter to take what was a 30-23 halftime lead to 55-40 going into the fourth quarter. Landon Rushton and Ben Broeker had 18 points apiece to lead the Rams, and Steven Stone chipped in with 12. Broeker recently returned from a broken hand. Brad Wallace had 20 points to lead all scorers for the Hawks.

Brendan Leonard’s 16 points paced Olympia in its 54-21 win over Shelton to remain in second place in the 4A Narrows League standings. The Bears held Shelton to 10 points through three quarters.

Timberline couldn’t overcome four Lincoln players in double figures, including Tre’Shaun Lexing’s game-high 30 points, as the Abes earned a 71-64 win over the Blazers. Theron Nystrom led Timberline with 17 points. Cooper Podowicz and Donaven Dorsey had 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Jared Eidenmuller continues his hot shooting performance, pouring in a game-high 22 points on 8 of 14 shooting, including 5 of 10 from 3-point range to lead Capital to a 62-45 win over Yelm.

Jona Spiller and Sarah Snodgrass had 12 points apiece, as Olympia earned its third straight win with a 48-34 victory over Shelton.

Northwest Christian fell behind early against North Beach – 23-5 after the first quarter – and couldn’t recover in a 67-48 loss. Kami Bates had 15 points for NWC, followed by Hailey Bredeson’s 10.

Timberline ran its winning streak to four games in a 55-34 win over Lincoln to remain unbeaten in 3A Narrows League play. Sasha Weber led all scorers with 22 points for the Blazers (8-4 overall).

Yelm used a 28-8 third-quarter run en route to its 71-31 win over Capital. Jessica Admunsen had 15 points as well as five steals and McKenzie DeVore was 4 of 6 from 3-point range to finish with 13 points to lead the Tornados.
