Power outages

About 41,000 Puget Sound Energy customers are reported without power this morning. Thurston County dispatchers are taking multiple calls about downed wires.

More than 26,000 customers are out of power in Olympia.

Libraries

Olympia Public Library will be open today, the only library in the Timberland system that will be open. The library is at 313 Eighth Ave. S.E.

Schools

Most South Sound school districts -- including Olympia, North Thurston and Tumwater – have canceled classes today due to snow. The Evergreen State College, South Puget Sound Community College and Saint Martin’s University also have canceled classes.

Adna: Closed.

Annie Wright School: Closed.

Boisfort: Closed.

Bethel: Schools closed. Evening activities canceled. PCSC Closed.

Centralia: Closed.

Charles Wright Academy: School and campus closed.

Chehalis: Closed.

Clover Park: Schools closed, and evening activities are canceled.

Clover Park Technical College: All campuses are closed; no day or evening classes.

Eatonville: Schools closed; no out-of-district transportation.

Elma: Closed.

ESD 113: Two hours late.

Evaline: No report.

The Evergreen State College: All campuses are closed.

Grapeview: No report.

Grays Harbor College: Opens at 10 a.m.

Griffin: Closed.

Hood Canal: Closed.

Lake Quinault: Two hours late.

Mary M. Knight: No report.

McCleary: Closed.

Montesano: Closed.

Napavine: Closed.

North Mason: Closed.

North Thurston: Closed and after-school activities are canceled.

NOVA School: Closed.

Oakville: Closed.

Olympia: Schools closed, and after-school activities are canceled.

Olympia Waldorf: Closed and all programs and meetings are canceled.

Orting: Schools closed.

Pacific Lutheran University: Offices open at 10 a.m. and classes begin at 11:30 a.m.

Pierce College: All campuses are closed; no day or evening classes.

Pioneer: Closed.

Pope John Paul II High School: Closed and evening activities are canceled.

Rainier: Schools closed.

Rochester: Schools closed.

Saint Martin’s University: Lacey, JBLM and Centralia campuses are closed. All Thursday classes are canceled.

Shelton: Closed.

South Puget Sound Community College: Olympia campus and Hawks Prairie Center are closed to all students, employees and visitors.

Southside: Closed.

Steilacoom: Schools closed. No out-of-district transportation and evening activities are canceled.

Taholah: Two hours late.

Tenino: Closed.

Toledo: Closed.

Tumwater: Closed and no out-of-district transportation.

White Pass: UPDATE Closed.

WaHeLut Indian Schools: Schools closed.

Winlock: Two hours late. No a.m. preschool.

Wishkah Valley: Two hours late, and no a.m. preschool.

Yelm: Closed.

Services

UPDATED: Thurston County Courthouse will open at noon today due to winter weather conditions. County offices and departments will close at 4:00 pm today. This includes District, Superior and Family/Juvenile Courts and Public Health and Social Services. Please check the County Home Page for updates.

Intercity Transit routes remain on Severe Weather Detours today. Most buses are using chains and travel at slower speeds. Riders should expect delays and dress warmly. Riders should also visit www.intercitytransit.com for service updates before leaving for their bus, as conditions may change throughout the day. Below is a brief outline of Severe Weather Service in effect: · 16 of 24 Intercity Transit routes are in Severe Weather operation.

· Three routes serving west Olympia are cancelled, Routes 42, 43, and 44. A shuttle carries riders between the Westfield Mall, SPSCC, and the Courthouse. Passengers can access the mall on Routes 45, 47, and 48, then transfer to the shuttle.

· 13 routes are traveling on detour or limited service, avoiding neighborhood streets, hills and dangerous intersections.

· A shuttle is serving The Meadows on Route 62B

Dial-A-Lift and most other services are operating but only where it is safe to travel.

Mason Transit

Mason Transit service is suspended today. At 10 a.m. we will reevaluate the road conditions. Mason Transit will not be providing ASA services.

Pierce Transit

All Pierce Transit routes remain on snow detours. Most buses are chained and travel at slower speeds. Riders should expect delays and dress warmly. Riders should also visit www.piercetransit.org before leaving their homes for service updates and detailed snow detour maps, or call 253-984-8155 for automated information

Amtrak

All Amtrak Cascades train service between Seattle and Portland (both directions) is suspended due to ongoing severe weather issues.

Organizations

Olympic National Forest's Supervisor's Office, located at 1835 Black Lake Blvd SW, in Olympia, will be closed today due to the inclement weather and road conditions.

The state Liquor Control Board offices are closed today, spokesman Brian Smith said. State liquor stores are open on a store-by-store basis. Call ahead, Smith said.

Roads

The city of Olympia passes on the following road closures:

• 27th Eastbound: Hoffman to Wiggins

• Morse-Merryman: Hoffman to Wiggins

• Wiggins: Morse-Merryman to Herman

• Division: 20th to Cooper Point.

• 22nd: Ravenna to Wheeler

• Rogers: Giles to Madison

• Wheeler

• Legion: Eastside to Central, Eastside to Plum (Eastside is open), Washington to Franklin

• Desschutes Parkday - 5th to Tumwater

• 28th: Cooper Point to 26th

• Cain and Log Cabin

The following hills are closed on the west side:

• Lakeridge Drive at top • Lakeridge Drive at bottom • Lakeridge Drive and Evergreen Park Drive • Raft Hill and Harbor View Drive • Raft Hill and West Bay Drive • West 4th at Rogers • West 4th at Sherman • West 5th at Sherman • West 4th and Olympic Way • Sherman and Garfield • Brawne and Rogers • Brawne and Foote • Brawne and Sherman • Brawne and West Bay Drive • Elliot Avenue and Crestline Boulevard

The following hills are closed on the east side:

• San Francisco and Quince • San Francisco and East Bay Drive • Berry at Milas • Berry at East Bay Drive • Bigelow and Eastside Street • 7th and McCormick • 7th and Central • 10th and Fir • 10th and Central

JBLM

Joint Base Lewis-McChord officials continue to advise residents of the installation to stay off the roadways and in their homes to the extent possible, due to slippery conditions on the roads and an increasing number of falling trees and limbs.
