Tumwater school levy deserves support

I am writing in support of the Tumwater School District’s replacement levy.

As a parent and an educator for the Tumwater School District, I have seen firsthand how important it is for our community to continue its support of the day-to-day operations and maintenance of its schools.

The local levy provides 20 percent of the district’s educational programs and support for those programs. In this tough economy, with losses in state funding, the passage of this levy is vital.

Please join me in voting “yes” so that our schools can continue to be a great place for kids of all ages.

The Booster Club raises money to sponsor a variety of activities and academic extras, student and teacher classroom needs, at Timberline High School. We are proud of the support we are able to provide to our students.

During my many years as a broadcaster, I had an opportunity to visit virtually every school in the Olympia School District. I observed teachers and staff who were dedicated to providing the best education possible. I always came away with a sense of pride and a feeling that surely we have one of the best school systems in the nation. It’s one of the reasons people want to live here.
