LACEY – Saint Martin’s used a 16-4 run to start the second half to pull ahead for good in a 70-53 Great Northwest Athletic Conference men’s basketball victory over Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday night at Marcus Pavilion.

The Saints (8-9 overall, 4-4 GNAC) evened their league mark. The Nanooks (4-14 overall, 1-7 GNAC) are in last place.

Things looked good for the Nanooks early. They controlled the tempo and grabbed a 29-21 halftime lead. The Saints used their run early in the second half to take a 37-33 lead and never trailed after that. The Saints shot 65 percent in the second half.

Four Saints scored in double figures. Brok Pendleton led the way with a game-high 22 points. Jeremy Green chipped in 16 points, and Roger O’Neill and Brady Bomber had 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Thursday’s win extends SMU’s winning streak to three games. It was the Saints’ fifth time in front of the home crowd in 17 games.

The Saints play host to Alaska Anchorage, which upset Western Oregon, 66-55, on Thursday night, at 7 p.m. Saturday at Marcus Pavilion.
