Jesse Stacy

Age: 18.

School: Northwest Christian High School in Lacey.

Grade: 12.

Parents: Mike and Sherry Stacy.

Best personal achievement: Being named Most Inspirational Athlete on my track team.

How I spend my time: I enjoy playing sports at school (cross-country, basketball, track), watching documentaries on the History Channel and Animal Planet, going to church and just spending time with my friends.

Favorite movie: “Nacho Libre.”

Favorite book: The Bible.

Dream job: Firefighter.

Someone I respect: Three people actually. I greatly respect my Grandpa Gene Brasher. He is one of the funniest people I know. He loves his wife, and works very hard to take care of her. And after 60 years of marriage, I would not mind growing up to be like him.

The second person would be Pete Fulton, my high school history teacher. He doesn’t teach history – he makes it come alive. I became addicted to the History Channel after taking his class. He was also an awesome football coach and a godly man.

The third person is my cross-country coach, Larry Weber. His work ethic is amazing, and I hope it rubbed off on me. Also, his walk with God is very inspiring.

The hardest part of being a student is: Balancing homework, friends, sports, my faith and many of the other things in life.

My ambitions or career aspirations include: Attending the McLane Fire Academy after high school. After the academy, I will then attend a school that gives me further medical training to become a paramedic. I hope then to serve as a firefighter, hopefully in Washington.

Someone famous I would like to meet: Bill O’Reilly. He seems like a guy who cares about people; he gives all his money raised from books to charities that support war veterans.

Someday, looking back on my life, I’ll be able to say: “I helped others, I made a difference and I walked with God.”

Biggest challenge facing teenagers today: Apathy – a lack of caring about their own future.

One thing in the world I would change if I could: I would find a way to help the poor and homeless.

Nominated by: Communications teacher Angela Flores, who wrote, “Jesse is an innovative self-starter who rarely needs supervision. He creates an immediate sense of trust, calm and confidence in those he works with. His attention to detail, handling multiple tasks and ability to work with people is valued greatly.”
