Timberland libraries won't fine tardy borrowers

Timberland Regional Library staff announced this morning that the libraries do not intend to charge overdue fines for library materials that became due while the libraries were closed because of the snow and power outages. Just check in with library staff when you return the materials.

All Timberland library branches are expected to be open normal hours this week. Go to www.TRL.org for more information.

I was pretty excited to take my grandchildren to the library after work last week. We arrived at the Lacey Timberland Regional Library and headed to the children’s area — ready to read and experience the joy of all those choices — only to find that there were several really fun toys to distract the children. It was certainly a perplexing situation. There were about eight other children already playing with the toys, and NOT ONE CHILD was looking at books — nor did they even care to peek at one when coaxed by their parents.
