City resources were put to good use

Well done, Olympia! In briefly scanning comments to various news stories about the weather events of the past few days, it appears that there is an overwhelming amount of bellyaching that city government did not do enough, and more importantly, spent way too much money! Really?

I suppose that the city should have remained rigidly within budget predictions? Imagine the hue and cry if they had. I think we all need to understand what hit us and that no municipality is ever prepared to handle an event like that financially. Look around folks; revenues and budgets are still tight; people are still in layoffs.

Our personal experience on the east side battle zone was as good as, or better, than expected.

Instead of making sarcastic remarks about our city government and stooping a little lower to call government officials a piece of junk, let’s focus on helping one another clean up after the storm. Mother Nature caused the problems, not the city.

Well done, Olympia. Thanks for being there when we needed you the most!
