Favorite movie: My favorite movie right now would have to be either the new “Footloose” or the newer “Hairspray.”
Favorite book: “Twilight” series by Stephenie Meyer.
Dream job: Nurse practitioner.
Someone I respect: My mom. She would do whatever it takes to take care of the people she cares about. I strive every day to be the strong independent woman she is.
The hardest part of being a student is: Balancing school work, work, bills, family and friends.
My ambitions or career aspirations include: Going to Washington State University and getting a bachelor’s degree so I can become a nurse practitioner. I would love to specialize in pediatrics, but my plan is to open up my own family clinic as a nurse practitioner.
Someone famous I would like to meet: Reese Witherspoon.
Someday, looking back on my life, I’ll be able to say: “I did everything I could do to be the best that I can be.”
Biggest challenge facing teenagers today: All the different pressures coming from all around you, no matter where you are or who you are with.
One thing in the world I would change if I could: I would change the selfishness that everyone has instilled in them today. If people were less selfish, I wholeheartedly believe that this world would be a better place.
Nominated by: Social studies teacher Andie Baumgartner, who wrote, “Alexis has a generous heart. She is kind, funny and never a pushover. She is amazing in her ability to balance lots of work hours, challenging course load (including Advanced Placement classes), church commitments, family commitments and relationships all while managing to be charming, caring and fun. She has had to deal with some personal challenges in the past year that would have wiped out most high school students, but Alexis figured out a way to rise above all that drama and keep her focus and beautiful smile.”
