Cranberry grower Bruce Lachney of Eatonville announced today he is running as a Democrat this fall against state Sen. Randi Becker in the 2nd Legislative District.

Becker is a first-term Republican senator from Eatonville and one of her caucus’ leaders on health care policy. Lachney collected funds to run against Republican Rep. Jim McCune in the 2nd in 2010 but later withdrew.

The 2nd district was the fastest growing in the state over the past decade and Redistricting Commission has redrawn it, retaining its overlap of southeast Thurston County but pulling it closer to Lacey.

Lachney’s announcement is linked here.
