Bob and Katie Gundlach are the new owners of Wild Birds Unlimited, a longtime retailer of birdfeed, birdfeeders and other supplies at 1200 Cooper Point Road S.W., Olympia.

The Gundlachs previously ran an insurance agency in Olympia for 27 years, but decided it was time for a change.

"We'd been customers at Wild Birds for years and when (former owner) Ruth (Pagel) mentioned she was considering retirement, we started talking, and as the saying goes, the rest is history!" the couple said in an email.

The Gundlachs became owners on Jan. 1.

Beginning Friday and continuing through the weekend, the business will have a grand opening as well as a bon voyage for former owner Ruth Pagel.

The business is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information about the business, visit www.olympia.wbu.com or call 360-352-5458.
