Owners of manufactured homes in Thurston County who are Puget Sound Energy customers can get energy-efficiency upgrades for free from the utility until the end of the year.

According to a news release from the utility:

The service is worth up to $500 per customer and could reduce energy bills by about 30 percent.

“Typically four out of five manufactured homes have leaky heating and cooling systems,” said Farra Vargas, PSE’s energy-efficient communities coordinator for Thurston County. “This program will help our customers who live in manufactured-homes install energy-efficient measures to increase their comfort and manage their energy bills.”

To qualify, residents must use electric forced air as their primary heat source. They cannot have taken advantage of previous manufactured-home energy-efficiency upgrades. PSE estimates there are more than 12,300 manufactured homes in Thurston County with customers eligible for the service.
